With the soccer world cup coming up this month, there is growing curiosity on what will get the most viewers,
All Blacks? All Whites?
In the Capital soccer has just become more popular then rugby as seen by these stats:
Hurricanes season: on average 13 000
Wellington Vodafone Lions 2009: average 11 000
Wellington Phoenix Play-offs: 17 000- 32 000
All Whites v Bahrain: 33 000
Although All Blacks got similar crowds, TV viewings rocketed for the All Whites

OKATO TV DAY- 50 years of what?
Welcome to the first edition of OKATO TV DAY, this online guide will make your TV viewing a lot more enjoyable and interesting.
Our main focus is the recent 'CHEERS TO 50 YEARS' logo on the top right hand corner of your TV screen if you just so happen to be watching TVONE,TV2,TVNZ6,TVNZ7 . Soon TVNZ HEARTLAND will join TVNZ's four previous channels . The channel which is scheduled to have 100 000 viewers per day, with a mojority of farmers tuning in. It goes to air on the same night in which CHEERS TO 50 YEARS airs on TVONE.

So far many people in the community have opted that the land should be turned into a Skate Park due to Okato's large BMX and Bike Rider community.
There also has been suggestions that we give the land to local Iwi.
All in all many of Okato's residents want to keep the eldest of the buildings on the far side of the school opposite the Swimming Pool.
In other news Okato's internet population has risen in spectacular form to around 100.
